DMVA Digest Taking Holiday Break:

The weekly Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Digest will not be published on Wednesday, Sept. 4 because of the Labor Day holiday. Thank you for your understanding as the staff takes a holiday break. The DMVA Digest will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Veterans Home Holds Softball Game For Suicide Prevention Walk:

Sept. 8 marks the Blair County Out of Darkness Community Walk. The Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home wanted to get the word out on the event. Instead of using word of mouth, social media posts and posters all over town, they decided to step into the batter’s box and raise money through a charity softball game.

Pennsylvania National Guard Soldiers To Deploy To Europe To Help Train Soldiers With Ukrainian Armed Forces:

The soldiers of the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team will be deploying to Germany, where they will teach basic combat skills to soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Coatesville VA To Host Suicide Prevention 5K Run/Walk:

The 1st annual Coatesville VA Strides to Prevent Suicide 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for Sept. 7. The event is designed to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention. Advance regular registration fee is $35 ($40 day of event), free for veteran/active duty servicemembers. This event will be held rain or shine.
