Campers Raise $630 For Veterans, Choose Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center For Donation:

After hard work and dedication, campers from the Scranton Police Department delivered a generous donation to the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center last week.

128th Brigade Support Battalion Completes Annual Training In The Mire Pit:

U.S. soldiers with Delta Company, 128th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division trained in the mire pits at Fort Indiantown Gap. The training consisted of three potential events that could occur during a real-life scenario.

World War II Veterans From Shenango Valley Receiving France's Highest Honor:

William Alfonsi of Hermitage and Dominick Aluisia of New Castle will receive the Legion d'honneur on Friday, August 23, at the Mercer County Courthouse.

Pa. Veterans At Risk Of Homelessness To Benefit From Millions In Funding:

The federal government has awarded more than $17 million in grants for housing and other services for Pennsylvania veterans, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced last week.

New Crawford Co. VA Clinic Opens In Meadville:

Thousands of veterans in Crawford County have a new hub for health care needs and specialized services. The Erie VA Medical Center has completed construction of a new clinic in Crawford County and it’s now taking patients.

Non-profit Expands To Support Warren Families, Veterans:

Bess Purpose has been serving people in Mahoning County and now has a new location in Warren on Highland Avenue. The organization helps people with basic necessities such as educational support, housing, employment assistance, veteran services and vocational support.

VA Awards Over $800 Million In Grants To Help Homeless And At-risk Veterans And Their Families:

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced it will award $806.4 million in grants to help homeless and at-risk veterans through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families and Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem programs.

Automated Pharmacy Means More Veterans Get Prescriptions Faster:

VA’s SW CMOP is one of seven highly automated, large-volume mail service pharmacy operations that prepare, fill and mail almost 84% of all VA prescriptions dispensed to veterans throughout the United States.

Texas Veteran Conquers Rehabilitation After Stroke:

Army veteran Tim Fanning is waging a journey after experiencing a right-sided stroke just 30 days ago. After initial treatment at a community healthcare facility, Fanning was transferred to Dallas VA for specialized rehabilitation.

Pittsburgh VA Community Living Center Now A Five-Star Facility:

The Community Living Center (CLC) at Pittsburgh VA is now a five-star facility, VA’s highest rating possible for its nursing homes.

The Delaware County PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is looking for an experienced Veterans Service Officer. The individual should possess superior customer service skills to address the needs of our veterans. Described as a benefit's coordinator role, the person in this position is responsible for providing information regarding benefits and claims assistance to Delaware County veterans.

Bucks County Bridge To Be Dedicated To Vietnam War Casualty:

United States Army Pfc. George Raymond Huntzinger will be memorialized on Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. when the Brownsville Road bridge across the Neshaminy Creek in Bucks County is renamed in his memory. The Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (PAVVMF) and Bucks County municipalities will conduct ceremonies honoring Huntzinger, a Neshaminy High School graduate who died on Oct. 29, 1969, in the Quang Ngai province of Vietnam.
