DMVA Digest Taking Holiday Break:

The weekly Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Digest will not be published on Wednesday, Sept. 4 because of the Labor Day holiday. Thank you for your understanding as the staff takes a holiday break. The DMVA Digest will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

After hard work and dedication, campers from the Scranton Police Department delivered a generous donation to the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center last week.

128th Brigade Support Battalion Completes Annual Training In The Mire Pit:

U.S. soldiers with Delta Company, 128th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division trained in the mire pits at Fort Indiantown Gap. The training consisted of three potential events that could occur during a real-life scenario.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced it will award $806.4 million in grants to help homeless and at-risk veterans through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families and Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem programs.

Bucks County Bridge To Be Dedicated To Vietnam War Casualty:

United States Army Pfc. George Raymond Huntzinger will be memorialized on Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. when the Brownsville Road bridge across the Neshaminy Creek in Bucks County is renamed in his memory. The Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (PAVVMF) and Bucks County municipalities will conduct ceremonies honoring Huntzinger, a Neshaminy High School graduate who died on Oct. 29, 1969, in the Quang Ngai province of Vietnam.
