258th Maintainers Elevate Skills During Intensive Two-Week Training Exercise:

Pennsylvania Air National Guardsmen with the 258th Air Traffic Control Squadron’s Deployable Instrument Landing System Team completed a two-week annual training exercise that focused on their newest equipment, the AN/TRN-50 Deployable Instrument Landing System.

DMVA Personnel Provide Information On How To Apply For Republic Of Korea - Ambassador For Peace Medal:

Honorably discharged veterans of the Korean War are eligible to receive the Republic of Korea - Ambassador For Peace Medal. Included with the medal is a certificate of gratitude from the South Korean government. DMVA Highlights Financial Relief Grants Available To Eligible Veterans, Beneficiaries Who Face Unexpected Hardships:

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) offers financial assistance to veterans who are facing an unexpected financial hardship. The Veterans Temporary Assistance (VTA) program provides eligible Pennsylvania veterans and their beneficiaries with financial relief for necessities of life such as food, shelter, fuel, and clothing.

Two York County Bridges Dedicated To Memory Of Fallen Veterans:

According to State Rep. Seth Grove, the bridges will be dedicated to the memory of Cpl. William E. Heilman and Pvt. Edward J. Stambaugh.

Motorcycle Being Raffled Off To Support Veterans In Lycoming County:

Local cycle enthusiasts are hoping to raise money for veterans by building a custom-made motorcycle and then raffling it off on July 27. For the second straight year, Insurrection Cycle and Prankster Paint teamed up to rebuild a classic hog, this time a 2006 Harley Davidson.

Quilts Of Valor Chapter Honors Veterans From Nanticoke, Sugar Notch:

Jose and Margaret Arroyo, of the Hanover Section of Nanticoke, and Dominick Panetta, of Sugar Notch, were recently honored by the Northeast PA Quilts of Valor Chapter at the Plains American Legion Post 365.

State Rep. Burns Offers Free Lunches To Veterans:

Pennsylvania State Representative Frank Burns, D-Cambria, is hosting a free spaghetti lunch for veterans. The Veterans Appreciation Lunch is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jackson Twp. Fire Hall.

Social Security’s New Electronic Initiatives Provide Faster, More Efficient Service:

The Social Security Administration is transforming the way it conducts business. Employees can now ask customers to electronically submit forms, documents and evidence needed to process disability applications and other transactions. That means faster and more efficient service to veterans and their families.

The Importance Of Colorectal Cancer Screening:

Colorectal cancer is one of the most diagnosed cancers among veterans, and each year VA diagnoses approximately 4,000 new cases. An Emmy-winning public service announcement is just one piece of VA’s ongoing efforts to educate veterans on the importance of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening.

VA Begins Transition To Simpler Online Sign-In Experience For Veterans' Account Access:

Spots Still Available For NuPaths' Service To Skills Program:

NuPaths' Project Analyst Program still has openings for the session that begins on July 29. This program offers a full scholarship and is specifically designed to equip veterans, members of the guard or reserves, and their spouses with the skills needed to excel as project analysts in the tech industry.

Promise Keepers Ride In Lackawanna County:

Veterans Promise is hosting a motorcycle and jeep ride in Peckville on Aug. 4, to benefit programming such as the Hardship Program, Major Hugs and the general Veterans Promise fund. Cost is $25 per rider and $15 per passenger. Tickets will be sold at the event.
