Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home Recognizes Volunteers:

The Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home recently honored 24 people and 28 organizations for their contributions, thanking those that volunteer their time with veterans.

Pennsylvania's State Best Warrior Competition:

Both enlisted and non-commissioned officers who competed in the 2024 Pennsylvania State Best Warrior Competition are listed. 

Governor's Advisory Commission On Women And Department Of Military And Veterans Affairs Open Nomination Period For 2024 Women Veterans Day Celebration:

The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women and the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) are seeking statewide nominations for outstanding women veterans who will be honored during this year’s Women Veterans Day ceremony in June.

Soldier Honored For 35 Years Of Service During Retirement Ceremony At Fort Indiantown Gap:

Command Sgt. Maj. Marc Weiss, assigned to the 213th Regional Support Group, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, was joined by over 150 of his friends, family and colleagues including Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler, the adjutant general of Pennsylvania, and Brig. Gen. Laura McHugh, deputy adjutant general-Army.

Immaculata University Named PNGAS Guard-Friendly School For Five Consecutive Years:

Immaculata University has again been recognized as a Guard-Friendly School by the Pennsylvania National Guard Association (PNGAS). Immaculata was one of the first educational institutions awarded Guard-Friendly School status, which began in 2019.

Former Honesdale Sports Star And National Guardsman Continues His Remarkable Recovery:

Logan Freiermuth has taken a huge step along the arduous path to recovery. He’s been fitted with a prosthetic that is allowing him to stand, walk and even run again after the amputation of his left leg below the knee.

U.S. Army Breaks Ground On Logistics Facility In Pennsylvania:

The U.S. has commenced development of a new logistics facility for the Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) in Chambersburg, PA.

Berks Jazz Fest Continues With Tribute To Veterans:

The U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors took the stage at the Miller Center for the Arts at Reading Area Community College. They were joined by the Berks High School All-Star Jazz Band for a swinging good time.

Tour Of Honor, 2024 Held At Parx Bensalem:

The annual Tour of Honor, a time when veterans come together, starts and ends in Bensalem, PA. They meet at Parx Casino, board a series of buses and take a day trip to Washington DC. While they are there, they tour museums and visit monuments dedicated to the wars they fought in.

Supreme Court Rules In Favor Of Army Veteran Over Extended GI Bill Benefits:

Veterans who separately accrue benefits under both the Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bills are entitled to both benefits.

VA Announces New Program To Help More Than 40,000 Veterans Stay In Their Homes:

On May 31, 2024, the Department of Veterans Affairs will launch a new program — the Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase (VASP) program — to help more than 40,000 veterans experiencing severe financial hardship avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes.

Old Glory Relay:

The 2024 Old Glory Relay will begin in Philadelphia, PA, and end in Chicago, IL. Old Glory’s making several guest appearances at key events along the route.

Regional Veterans Experience Action Center:

Veteran Experience Action Centers (VEACs) bring together VA resources for veterans and their families to offer virtual 1-on-1 personalized assistance with benefits and services. Watch this video to learn what to expect during the event.

Proactive Culture: How To Uphold Dignity And Respect For All:

VA fosters an environment of healing where treating everyone with civility and respect makes veterans and employees feel supported. Behaviors that counter our core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence (ICARE) have no place at VA.

Boots To Business Reboot Training Program Scheduled For Pittsburgh:

Boots to Business Reboot is an entrepreneurial education training program offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This course, scheduled April 25, 2024, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., provides an overview of entrepreneurship and applicable business ownership fundamentals. Veterans of all eras, active-duty service members (including National Guard and Reserve) and spouses are eligible to participate at no cost.

Montgomery County To Host Veteran Program On Financial Fraud And Scams:

This program, scheduled for April 19 from 10 a.m.-Noon at the Montgomery County Human Services Center in Norristown, brings together experts in finance and consumer protection to present to veterans and their families, focusing on investment fraud and scam prevention.
