94th Training Division award winning Regional Training Site Maintenance Fort Indiantown Gap, graduated its latest Wheeled Vehicle Mechanics reclass course.
Pennsylvania Army, Air National Guard Conduct Joint Training:
Approximately 25 U.S. Soldiers and Airmen with the Pennsylvania National Guard worked together Oct. 13 to load a UH-60M Blackhawk helicopter onto a C-17 cargo aircraft and transport it from Army Aviation Support Facility in Johnstown, Pa., to Pittsburgh and back.
Pennsylvania Aims To Boost Veterans Employment With Grants Totaling $800,000:
As Pennsylvania veterans work to successfully re-enter their communities and find jobs, the state hopes to ease the process with expanded funding for the Veterans Employment Program.
Governor Signs Executive Order Streamlining Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Efforts:
Governor Josh Shapiro signed an Executive Order directing Commonwealth agencies to collaborate with mental health and substance use disorder stakeholders to streamline and improve the accessibility of mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services across the Commonwealth.

Remains Of Korean War Veteran Laid To Rest In Pennsylvania:
The remains of Army Corporal Francis James Jury, who fought in the Korean War were laid to rest Wednesday At Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Honorary Diplomas For Veterans:
The Pennsylvania Department of Education provides guidance on the granting of a high school diploma to World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans who did not graduate due to entry into military service. Pennsylvania Public School Code of 1949 gives boards of school directors the power to confer honorary academic degrees.
Greenfield Township To Dedicate Veterans Monument:
A monument honoring township residents who have served in the armed forces will be dedicated on Veterans Day. The November 11 event will include a ceremony from 2-2:30 p.m. at the site at 424 Route 106 and a reception in the township Fire Department hall.
Veterans Breakfast Held In Dauphin County:
The Dauphin County Commissioners hosted a breakfast for veterans. Dozens of veterans gathered at the VFW in Halifax. It was an opportunity for county leaders to connect directly with those who have served our country and pass on critical information.

VA Asks Veterans To Call 10 Vet Friends For National Buddy Check Week Starting Monday:
VA is encouraging veterans to reach out to 10 of their veteran friends next week as part of the first National Buddy Check Week, an initiative aimed at improving former service members' mental health by having them connect or reconnect with one another.
CWV Book Corner, October: Carolyn Johnson-Graham:
This month’s CWV Book Corner author is Army Veteran Carolyn Johnson-Graham (C. Jai Graham), who served as a chemical specialist from 1997-2006. She wrote "I’m Working On Me." The book discusses topics like self-care, setting boundaries and learning how to cultivate a personal strength.
Operation We Remember: Tribute To Lives Lost To Suicide:
A profound crisis looms large across the nation: the heartbreaking reality of veteran suicides. Every state has rallied behind initiatives like the Governor’s Challenge and Mayor’s Challenge, fostering collaborations between federal and state agencies, aiming to combat this tragic epidemic.
National Guard Says Duke Low MOA Still In The Works:
The proposed low-flying training zone over the Pennsylvania Wilds for the Maryland Air National Guard is still in the works. That’s the word on from the National Guard Public Affairs Media Operations office regarding the Duke Low Military Operating Area.

Department Of Labor To Hold Federal Hiring Workshops:
The Department of Labor has created a series of in-person Off-Base Transition Training courses for veterans, veterans currently serving in the National Guard and Reserve, and their spouses. These federal hiring workshops are designed to provide a better understanding of the federal hiring process, including information on identifying preferences and executive hiring orders for veterans.

PA DMVA's Southwestern Veterans' Center To Host Veterans Resource Fair And Tailgate Party:
Southwestern Veterans' Center will host over 30 different organizations that provide services and programs to veterans and military families on Oct. 20, 2023, from 2-6 p.m. Attendees will be able to connect with these organizations directly, meet local sports legends, enjoy family friendly games and entertainment, food trucks, sports mascots, marching bands and more. Learn about opportunities available to the military community, connect with other veterans, and discover opportunities to volunteer to support different organizations in the Pittsburgh area.
