DMVA Announces Erie-Area Veteran Event Providing Information To Veterans On The PACT Act:

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) will hold an in-person discussion called “Let’s Talk, Vet 2 Vet” on the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at VFW Post 470, 180 West 26th St., Erie, PA 16508. The event will also be available by phone to ensure accessibility for Pennsylvania’s more than 700,000 veterans – the fourth largest veteran population in the nation.

Tax Savings, Emergency Assistance And Other Benefits For Veterans With Brian Natali:

In part two of the Voice & Vision Untold Valor podcast with Brian Natali, the Chief of the Division of Veterans Services and Programs for the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs sheds light on some of the essential services available to veterans. He discusses the intricacies of real estate tax exemptions, explains the Veterans Temporary Assistance program, and highlights Military Family Relief Assistance Program resources. He also stresses the importance of working with an accredited Veteran Service Officer.

28th Infantry Division Memorial Service:

Soldiers with the 28th Infantry Division and friends and family of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard continued a tradition of remembering the “Iron Division’s” fallen soldiers during the annual memorial service on May 21, 2023.

On the heels of Military Appreciation Month, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2023’s Best and Worst States for Military Retirees. 

Discovery Space Offering Free Admission To Military Personnel:

Discovery Space, located in State College, PA (Centre County) announced it has joined museums nationwide in the Blue Star Museums initiative, a program that provides free admission to currently serving U.S. military personnel and their families this summer.

Mifflin County Native Leads PA Military Museum:

With Mifflin County steeped in military history from the Logan Guard to the Lincoln stone at Monument Square, it’s no wonder that visitors from the county are drawn to the Pennsylvania Military Museum’s rich Civil War memorabilia. County native Tyler Gum has helped to tell those stories, serving as site administrator since 2016.

VA Relaxes Masking At Health Care Facilities:

On May 30, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it has relaxed the masking requirement at VA medical facilities. VA facilities will no longer universally require masks in most clinical areas.

Restoration Center Seeks Food Service Worker 1:

South Mountain Restoration Center, a long-term care skilled nursing home facility operated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is seeking hard-working, dependable food service workers to be a part of its dietary team. The primary responsibilities of this position include portioning and assembling residents' meal trays and nourishments to provide nutritional support to residents in a clean and sanitary manner. Cumberland County Theater To Host Advance Screening Of Mending The Line:

Allenberry Playhouse Theater is hosting the premier showing of the film Mending the Line, a story about a veteran with PTSD who finds healing and joy through fly fishing. There will be a panel discussion afterward with director Joshua Caldwell and active and retired service members who are alumni of the Warriors and Quiet Waters Foundation program. The event is free for veterans, $25 for the general public, with proceeds going to the foundation.
