100th Birthday Salute At The Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home:

Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home resident Russell Stiffler clutches the hand of his daughter, Juna Stiffler, 75, of Ebensburg, before his 100th birthday celebration hosted by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs recently.  

Women's History Month:

In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Pennsylvania National Guard created a series of “Warrior Women’s Wednesday” videos, to be presented each Wednesday in March. The intent is to highlight female soldiers and airmen to briefly touch on several topics that impact female veterans and service members – such as mentorship, health and fitness, female veteran benefits and resources and also what you, the viewer can do to continue to be part of the solution in helping to advance the role of women in the military.

Women's Health And Wellness Panel Discussion:

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Pennsylvania National Guard will host a panel discussion with senior leaders on March 23, 2023 1-3 p.m. at the Keystone Conference Center, Building 17-104 on Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA 17003.

Women's Mentorship:

Sergeant Major Ashley Merrill with an important Women’s History Month message about mentorship and how it impacts soldiers and airmen.

Students Go From Completely Failing Grades To As And Bs At PA's Challenge Academy:

Just two months into their five months at the Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy, students begin improving their grades. 

Pennsylvania Veterans Museum Observes National Vietnam War Veterans Day:

National Vietnam War Veterans Day will be observed at the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum in Media on Sunday, April 2, to honor and commemorate the service and sacrifices of the nearly three million men and women who served in the armed forces during the Vietnam War.

Women Veterans Museum:

The Women Veterans Museum is dedicated to highlighting the brave souls that have, are, and will continue to defy all odds and impact the world. It is the first Women Veterans Museum founded in Pennsylvania that truly focused on all women regardless of race, branch, or level of service.

Solomon Appointed To Chair Of Veterans Affairs And Emergency Preparedness Committee:

State Rep. Jared Solomon, D-Phila., announced that he’s been appointed chair of the PA House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee. Solomon is a former Army Reserve JAG officer who said he has a special interest in the well-being of Pennsylvania's veterans.

Routine Exercise At PA National Guard Unit Near Pittsburgh Airport To Cause Increased Weekend Activity:

During the exercise, an increased amount of activity may be seen at the base and on Pittsburgh International Airport property, according to a news release from the unit.

Pennsylvania College Employee Selected For Student Veteran Fellowship:

Katie Burke, a veteran services specialist at Pennsylvania College of Technology, is one of 20 successful applicants for a national Focus Forward Fellowship.

Modernizing VA Benefits Delivery:

To help veterans apply for and receive VA benefits more efficiently, VA’s Office of Information and Technology, Veterans Benefits Administration, and Debt Management Center have been working to create innovative technology solutions.

The VA Will Pay For Some To Get New Alzheimer's Drug:

The VA added Leqembi, which received accelerated approval from the Food and Drug Administration in January to its list of nonformulary drugs.

VA's Caregiver Support Program: Get Paid To Care For Your Veteran:

Every VA facility has a Caregiver Support Program team that provides support and referrals to services for caregivers. They provide valuable information about resources to help caregivers stay informed and supported.

Veterans Leadership Program To Host Pittsburgh Career Fair:

Veterans will have the opportunity to meet with the talent acquisition teams from companies such as Bayer, Highmark Health, Home Helpers, Pittsburgh International Airport, and Swank Corporation. The event is scheduled for March 24 from 10 a.m. to Noon at the Veterans Leadership Program office located at 2934 Smallman St. in Pittsburgh. Pre-registration is requested.
