Pennsylvania Soldiers' And Sailors' Home Hosts Veterans Day Ceremony:

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs' (DMVA) Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home in Erie held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Veterans Day. The event had speeches made by Vietnam veterans, a post and retiring of colors from the Gannon University ROTC, and a patriotic choir performance from the Mercyhurst Prep choir school.

16 Salutes - Brigadier General Maureen Hopkins Weigl:

When Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Deputy Adjutant General of Veterans Affairs Brig. Gen. (PA) Maureen Weigl's military training really started in high school, the competitive spirit and teamwork skills she gained from playing sports at Dunmore High School followed her to college. "When I went to Pitt, and I wasn't playing sports, I kind of was a little lost and bored. And then I met a woman who was in ROTC, and she said, 'Come try it.' And I was like, 'I'm never joining the Army,'" Weigl recalled.

Veterans Banners Mean Much To Families And Communities:

Cambridge Springs is one of the latest communities to honor its veterans with banners. The banners have already been taken down for the winter.  But, I came here anyway to find out how much these banners mean to a community. I spoke with Delores Hale, the chairperson of the program.

"We're a big veterans town.  We're the home of the Pennsylvania National Guard.  Our veterans and our servicemen mean a lot to us,” she said.

Pennsylvania Department Of Military And Veterans Affairs Is Looking For Veterans Services Specialists:

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is hiring Veterans Services Specialists (VSSs) to serve in three regions throughout the state. A VSS works with Regional Program Outreach Coordinators to develop and maintain relationships within the PA VETConnect network of public and private sector partners to better serve Pennsylvania's veterans and their families. The DMVA is seeking one VSS for each of three regions. All job postings close Nov. 23, 2022.

Center For Women Veterans To Hold Virtual PACT Act Town Hall:

Representatives from Veterans Benefits Administration and the Office of Women’s Health Services will join panel members in discussions on topics including screenings related to toxic exposures, the process for determining presumption of exposure, and service connection for various chronic conditions. This event will serve to increase awareness of the PACT Act with women veterans.
