DMVA Joins PA Dept. Of Aging To Announce Investigative Team Focused On Combating Financial Exploitation Of Older Adults, Including Veterans:

Continuing its work to address and prevent one of the fastest growing forms of elder abuse, the Department of Aging announced the formation of a dedicated investigative unit to support Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) in probing complex financial exploitation cases and obtaining justice for older Pennsylvanians.

Funds Available For Eligible Children Of Veterans Pursuing Post-Secondary Education:

As the school year approaches, the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) wants eligible veterans with children to know that financial assistance is available to those attending post-high school education or training at an approved institution in the commonwealth through its Educational Gratuity Program.

Flag Placard Donated To DMVA's Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center:

An employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs' (DMVA) Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center in Scranton recently donated a flag to the center in memory of her father, a U.S. Marine veteran. As noted in the home's monthly newsletter, the flag is proudly displayed in a resident and family sitting area.

The latest report from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on suicide noted a 7% decrease in veteran suicides nationally. In Pennsylvania 270 died by suicide in 2019, with the most between the ages of 55 and 74.

Pennsylvania Capitol Police Seeks Candidates Through New Recruitment Program:

The Pennsylvania Capitol Police Department (PA Capitol Police) is pleased to announce the launch of a new internship program that provides training and certification, as well as most associated costs. The PA Capitol Police Intern Program is designed to enable successful candidates to attend the full-time Act 120 certification academy for six months, complete their officer field training, and then be a full-time PA Capitol Police Officer.
