DMVA Grateful For The Hundreds Of Nurses At PA’s Six Veterans Homes:
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) wants to thank and recognize its more than 400 nurses and let them know that they are greatly appreciated for their selfless work caring for residents at Pennsylvania’s six veterans homes.
Exciting And Rewarding Health Care Career Opportunities Available At The Delaware Valley Veterans’ Home:
The DVVH is holding a job fair to hire registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse aides, and food service and custodial workers. Anyone interested can learn more and even apply by attending a DVVH job fair from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25 at 2701 Southampton Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154.
DMVA Honors Nurses At Southwestern Veterans’ Center For Their Selfless Care Of Veterans:
Nurses at the Southwestern Veterans’ Center (SWVC) in Pittsburgh were honored for their selfless care of veterans in recognition of National Nurses Week. The SWVC is one of six veterans homes operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). The DMVA is honoring its more than 400 nurses who care for our veterans and their families throughout all of its six veterans homes.
DMVA To Build New Skilled Nursing Care Facility Coming To Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home:
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs has announced plans for the construction of a new 200-bed skilled nursing care facility, upgrades to MacArthur Hall, which is used for personal care residents, as well as the sale of two tracts of underutilized land at its 220-acre Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home campus in Blair County.
State Seeks To Sell Portion Of Veterans Home Grounds:
111 acres uphill behind the complex’s buildings and 11 acres across Municipal Drive were identified by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs as “surplus,” according to Troy Thompson, spokesman for the Department of General Services, which is handling the potential sale.
DMVA To Host Virtual Town Hall On Serving Older Veterans:
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) will host the second in a five-part series of virtual Veteran Town Halls on May 18, 2022, from 5-6:30 p.m. The town hall will focus on serving older veterans.
Join Robert Torres, secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Aging; Brig. Gen. (PA) Maureen Weigl, DMVA deputy adjutant general for Veterans Affairs; and Travis Davis, DMVA executive director for Long-Term Care. Discussion topics will include DMVA veterans homes, the Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s Caregiver Support Program, senior centers, accessing nutritional programs and recognizing abuse/neglect/exploitation of the elderly.

The Pennsylvania Military Museum In Boalsburg:
The Pennsylvania Military Museum is a community gathering place welcoming audiences to gather and explore the story of the Commonwealth’s men and women serving in the Armed Forces, civilian activities on the home front, and Pennsylvania’s contributions to military innovation. Admissions is free to active duty military members and immediate family.
Visit The National Memorial Arch In King Of Prussia:
The National Memorial Arch commemorates the difficult winter endured by General George Washington and his Revolutionary War forces when camped at Valley Forge. Located in Valley Forge National Historical Park, the arch was dedicated in June 1917, and includes a quote from Washington inscribed at the top.
VA5K 35th Annual Memorial Run:
The VA5K Annual Memorial Run is in it's 35th year and is held at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Proceeds from the run benefit a veterans events. The run is always held the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and race time is 9 am.

Chester County Offers Vets New ID Cards And Tape Recordings Of Service:
The Chester County Record of Deeds office is offering veterans a recording of military discharge documents, new IDs and discount cards for businesses.
The Immigrant Military Members And Veterans Initiative (IMMVI):
The IMMVI launched in July 2021 when VA partnered with the Department of Homeland Security to consolidate relevant federal resources for noncitizen service members, veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors. The Initiative includes a portal for veterans who need assistance in applying to return to the U.S. and for accessing VA benefits to which they may be entitled.
Center For Women Veterans Book Corner:
Each month, VA’s Center for Women Veterans profiles a different woman Veteran author as part of its Women Veteran Authors Book Corner. This month’s author is U.S. Army Veteran Mari K. Eder, who served for 36 years from 1977-2013.

Park Police To Resume Escorts For Honor Flight Visits Around Washington, D.C:
U.S. Park Police officials have agreed to resume escorts for Honor Flight events around the nation’s capital, continuing a tradition that had been interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Tuskegee Airman Request Cards For His 100th Birthday:
Ret. Sgt. Victor W. Butler is believed to be the last surviving Tuskegee Airman in Rhode Island and he's hoping people across the country can send him a birthday card to celebrate his big day on May 21.
